I can't wait...

It has been so much fun to be home with my family for the week.

My mom is making progress everyday and will be ready to go back home tomorrow.
The cleaning is done and the laundry is almost caught up...
Tonight we are going to have a pre-Mother's Day celebration with my mom, one of her sisters and "Great."

We are starting the evening off with...
Then back to "Great's" house for some...
Then settling in for our favorite Thursday night shows...
The 100 episode... and the Wedding!!
Then it's off to bed for a good night's rest before the big weekend...

Momma I'm Coming Home...

My mom has made it through her first week since surgery. She's still staying at my grandma's house, but each day is getting a little bit better. She isn't doing well enough to return to her regular routine; work, wife and mother. (She's mostly worried about her horses not getting the exercise they need for the upcoming Barrel Races she has scheduled)
So... I'm headed home tomorrow to help out next week.
I'm sure my dad and my brother will appreciate the help. I can't even imagine what the house is going to look like after two boys have been trying to cook and survive without my mom for a week;) but I'm about to find out.

My sweet mother-in-law got me tickets to the BYU Women't Conference last week.
Two Days full of spiritual uplift!! It was amazing...
I can't believe I haven't tried to take advantage of this before.
I highly recommend this opportunity to ALL of you next year. You won't be disappointed.

To top off the week...
My mother-in-law took Tydon home with her today so Gordon and I get a date night and the house to ourselves!! We are going to go shopping and celebrate his birthday since I'll be gone next week.

More than expected...

Being away from home isn't always easy...

I got a phone call last Thursday from my aunt Alison telling me my mom was going in for surgery in a half hour. My dad had taken my mom to the ER the night before because she was having severe stomach pains. She took a bath hoping to ease some pain and it only got worse. My dad had to help her out of the tub and took her to the ER where they ran several tests and decided it had to be her appendix.

They took her in for surgery hoping to take care of things with a scope and once they got in there they realized that it wasn't her appendix at all. She had a ruptured bowel!! Where her small intestine and large intestine connect, it had burst and she had some infection throughout.

My mom has Crohn's Disease so this can be one of the complications. She is a nurse herself so when she got back to her room and felt a huge bandage across her stomach she knew something more had taken place while she was under.

She was discharged from the hospital today and is staying with my grandma for a few days. I wish I was there to help cook her meals and take care of her. I'm grateful for my family and glad they are close enough to take care of her.
